Over the course of history there have been many revolutions - some have been successful, some have ended in tears and others have been shot down before they've started. The marketing department at Bloomfield Road took a punt on the 'Riga Revolution' when it came to attempting to sell season tickets following Jose' arrival, but the fact they seemed to put a picture of Riga in the middle of a target may have been more significant than they realised. With one win in fifteen games, it would seem Riga could become shooting practise for the Chairman. |

Every club needs it's colourful character and up to his downfall in 1996, Blackpool had it's own touch of eccentricity in Owen Oyston. The man that fell backwards in to a swimming pool, rubbed shoulders alongside the wealthy and influential, wore his trademark fedora and came up with pie in the sky stadium plans for Blackpool Football Club fitted the bill. However, his time at Her Majesty's Pleasure left him disgraced and it seemed that the Seasiders had lost a recognisable figurehead - until along came Valeri Belokon. |

One minute you read that Derby's excellent keeper Lee Grant will be missing for Tuesday nights game at Bloomfield Road and wonder if that is the break we need, and the next, Steve McLaren has gone to Stoke and borrowed their highly rated England Under 21 keeper Jack Butland. Nothing lasts forever. Records are there to be broken. Luck does eventually balance itself out. All of those expressions could be used for Friday night's game which finally saw Jose Riga rip that giant monkey off his back and pick up his first win as a Blackpool manager. Against a backdrop of unrest and unease with protestors in the crowd, the players got in with the business of winning a crucial game. |

If the Tardis really did exist and Blackpool fans could go back in time then they'd probably head back to 18th August 2010. It was that day that Blackpool announced that Karl Oyston had resigned as chairman and a director of the club with immediate effect. In an article in the MailOnline it was speculated that "Blackpool fan Andy Pilley, owner of non-League Fleetwood Town, is favourite to replace the 43-year-old." If only .... |

Ironic that there wasn't even a breeze blowing down Blackpool prom today because the size of relief around Bloomfield Road as the full time whistle went today was palpable. Whilst Blackpool's performances this season haven't really warranted 3 points, they've certainly deserved a draw on some occasions, and finally today the duck was broken and the relief was there for all to see. |

So it's Au Revoir to Riga's numero deux as he cashes in his return ticket to Belgium and decides not to return to Bloomfield Road. Good news for the Blackpool Hotel which has an extra room spare, bad news for Jose Riga who's lost his right hand man. A lack of signings, support from the Chairman and an awful run of results doesn't seem to have put off the Belgian manager but the loss of his number two just might. |

Carole King once had a hit with the song 'It might as well rain until September' - quite apt after the August and the summer that Blackpool have had. There was always that question 'can we get away with not having a pre-season and a thrown together squad?'. Well that question has now been answered in the most stark way with six defeats in August and records broken left, right and centre. |

There would be a lovely irony if Blackpool picked up their first point of the season on Saturday. Not for any other reason than it would be against a man who has given Seasiders fans more during his time in charge than most will experience in a lifetime. The glory days of the Ian Holloway era will become the stuff of folklore in years to come and something Jose Riga can only dream of. |
